About C Minor

BEHIND THE BEGINNINGS

As a child, Timothy "C Minor" Zimnoch never walked anywhere. He danced his days from dawn to dusk, he entertained the crowd with his fluid flow to his robust Bboy rhythm. With unstoppable kinetic energy, C Minor entered the dance world beginning with ballet, joining jazz, slipping into street tap like a second skin and finally adding hip hop to his repertoire. Enrolling into every class offered, he lived his days in the dance studio.

C Minor started his first two years of dance training at Donna Muzzio's Dance Center. He then transferred to The Rock School West and would attend the annual summer dance intensive program at The Rock School in Philadelphia, considered the best dance training in the region. It was an encounter with Noah Farber during his time at the Rock School where the composer and C Minor formed a kinship. Their love of music, composition and friendship is still something Farber and Minor continue to appreciate to this very day. C's dance training enhanced his musical perception where he could visualize the choreography blending every beat perfectly with the musical composition needed. Simultaneously, C Minor played violin taking lessons from Joseph D'Onofrio, a chartered member, and principal second violinist for Peter Nero and the Philly Pops at the time. At this time, he practiced with the talented Noah Farber, a man Minor considers his mentor in perfecting the piano. C performed with the school orchestra and Honors Orchestra by audition. One summer day at Booth's Corner, the local farmer's market, Minors grandfather spotted a used saxophone at the music shop. He paid one hundred dollars for the sax after bargaining the price down with the shop owner. C still remembers the price he paid since he earned the money bagging and delivering the Philly Inquirer for his uncle, a contractor for the paper. The instrument became an obsession to a younger C that played his sax all summer long. He took lessons from Joseph Smith who today celebrates his 42nd season with the Philly Pops whose performances at legacy Pops concerts featured guest stars such as Ray Charles, Elton John, Mel Torme and Aretha Franklin. That fall semester, C and his sax joined the middle school concert and jazz band later doubling on clarinet to add to his list of instruments. He thrived in a world of sound and rhythm. Being exposed to these brilliantly gifted musicians provided a standard of music excellence that C Minor carries with him today.

A major shift occurred in C Minor's world that changed his entire future. During his school years a decision was needed - for him to choose between A or B. This is when C Minor first decided that options offered where not optimal. So, he created option C.

Procuring a love for music, C Minor's musical awareness heightened while listening to a classical piano CD collection that his grandfather gave him. The CD recording resonated through his entire being. Listening to the music over and over again inspired C Minor to fashion the piano as his true instrument of choice, an extension of his natural anatomy. His earlier experiences playing violin, sax and clarinet faded as his passion for piano exploded. His talent paired with his drive earned him a spot at Temple University as the youngest private student to be trained further by world renowned pianist, Maria Del Pico Taylor. At 14, the Philadelphia born artist toured with a local hip-hop dance company with his first piano performance featured at the historically iconic Philadelphia Art Museum. Just a few years later, C Minor expanded his craft by attending Full Sail University where he obtained a degree in audio engineering.

It was Mark Rothko that said, "Art is an adventure into an unknown world, which can be explored only by those willing to take risks." Not only a risk, but C took a leap of faith. After graduation, with only $150 in his pocket and a one way ticket to Los Angeles, he had his eyes set on the Hollywood horizon.
